Sharpantsi / Szarpańci / Шарпанці

Sharpantsi is a village in western Ukraine, not too far northeast of L'viv (see this map on MapQuest.com).

My ancestry is known to include the Lukashchuk (a.k.a. "Lukaschuk", "Lukaszczuk", "Lukaszuk", or "Лукащук") and Koshlaj (a.k.a. "Koszlej" or "Кошлай") families of Sharpantsi. If you too are descended from these families or this village, I'd like to hear from you.

I visited Sharpantsi in 1999 at which time the villagers were renovating the church. The photo at left shows the church as it appeared at that time.

Although the records are not yet indexed in their catalog, the LDS Church has microfilmed those Greek Catholic church records for Sharpantsi which are held in the L'viv State Archives. The LDS microfilm numbers are 2289520 and 2373857. Or if you visit the archive in L'viv, the original records are available in Record Group 201, Series 4A, File #3122 and #6001 through #6005.
